Arriving

What’s parking like?

Street parking is typically 1 – 2 hours and free depending on where you park. Please note that parking hours have been extended to 10:00pm. On the studio side of the street is metered parking and on 14th St. behind Shine Café is a small parking lot free for your use.

When should I arrive to class?

We recommend arrive 10 minutes early or 15 minutes early if you are new and have not filled out the new student waiver. You can save time by signing up online!

We have two locations. All of our regularly scheduled weekly classes will be held at the E street studio (1400 E street Suite B). Some workshops are held at the Del Paso studio (1518 Del Paso Blvd). The location will be included in the workshop description.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, that you don’t mind getting a little sweaty. Don’t worry. Yoga isn’t a beauty contest as far as we know, so wear what is comfortable and come on in

What do I bring?

Bring yourself. We have mats and props available to borrow at the studio. If you do have your own mat or props, please bring them so that our supplies can go to those without. Some classes can get a little sweaty, so it is also nice to bring a water bottle and/or a small towel to wipe your sweat on. We also have water and rags at the studio, but again, bring your own if you have them.

Logistics of the Practice

Can I still come if I cannot touch my toes?

Of course! How else are you going to get there? We recommend coming to an all bodies classbeginner class, a yin class, or to one of our beginner’s workshops, but for some people tight hamstrings or a tight psoas muscle will prevent them from touching their toes for a very long time. That is OK! Yoga isn’t about turning yourself into a pretzel, it is about unwinding and settling into your true self.

It is recommended to eat after class for an active class. Avoid eating an hour and a half before you come.

Can I bring my child to class?

Our policy for children is that they must be non-disruptive and able to fully participate in the practice for a 75 minute class, they may not come and just watch.

Can I come late or leave early?

Try to arrive 10 minutes early so that you can set your mat down, get situated and maybe make some new friends. Sometimes life happens and we are late. If you are five minutes late, that is ok! Please still come to yoga. That said, warm ups are an essential part of the practice, so although 0-10 minutes would be a reasonable amount of late, more than than can be dangerous as you will miss the entire warm up series and could go too quickly into a pose your body isn’t ready for. So, more than 10 minutes and better try another class later on in the day. Grab a tea at Shine Cafe and wait for the next group of mat carrying yogis to gather.

If you ever feel the need to leave a class, do. By all means, we hope yoga encourages you to finding the path with the most joy. We have a lot of different classes for different tastes, and if one is not suitable for you, we encourage you to inquire and try another.

What class is right for me?

On our online schedule, you can click the class title to get a description of each class. Yin is a slower style of yoga with long holds that helps to release fascia in the body. Yin/Yang is a mix of yin (long holds) and yang (active) poses. Vinyasa classes all incorporate vinyasa flow between asana, and can be sweatier classes. Membership & Pricing

What’s the cost?

$15 per class.  However, we have a lot of different pricing options to suit your unique needs.

We also have a sliding fee program. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Always come to yoga!

What happened to the donation bowl?

Don’t worry we have the bowl safe and sound in our office alter. We switched to a sliding fee program so that we can better serve our clients while collecting data on how much we give away in sliding fee funds each month so we can apply for grants. Your participation in the sliding fee program helps us continue what we do in this community. Thank you!

What form of payment do you accept?

We  accept credit cards (visa, mastercard, or discover). Cash and checks are always welcome.

You can pay online through our scheduling system, or you can come to the studio and pay. Gift certificates are also available! For more pricing options, please check out our pricing page.

I need to terminate my membership, how do I do that?

Our policy for terminating a membership is that we must have written request. Send an email to info@theyogaseed.org or fill out a contact us form to request termination

What is the process like for signing up for sliding fee membership?

Glad you asked! You can find the application and guidelines here. Once you apply front desk staff will apply a temporary 30 day pass to your account while we process your application. If you want to send in verification you can do so by taking a picture and sending it via email to support@theyogaseed.org. Once we approve your application we will make sure your card information is correct on your account and with your permission start the first charge of your membership if it is above $0.
